How to Feed Fondant to Honeybees

Directions:  Cut a small cross in the centre of the bag using your hive tool, then tuck the flaps underneath to create a small opening.

Feeding with no Feeders

For hives that do not have a top feeders during winter feeding, place opening face down on top of your brood frames to mitigate honey blindness.  For warmer weather feeding, place opening face up.

Feeding with a Top Feeder

For hives that do have top feeders like the Paradise Honey hive or Ceracell Feeders, place the open face upwards in the centre of the feeder. Remember to to take out the restricting covers (transparent chimney/ corner restrictor or side restrictor) of the feeders to allow the bees full access of the whole feeder. This will allow them to access the Bee Fondant.

How much Fondant Do Bees Need?

Consider several bags throughout winter based on the size and strength of your colonies, honey reserves, and access to external resources like nectar. It's important to ensure they have enough nourishment during this season.
