If you are looking for a higher performance hive design that is compatible with the Langstroth format, you might consider this hive. Its high density Styrofoam structure provides excellent insulation to help your colony get through the winter in cold-weather climates while consuming their winter stores more slowly. As a bonus, it is also lighter than conventional wooden hives. It has been developed by a third generation commercial beekeeping family, who have put it through its paces and come up with a nice implementation that punches above its weight for the price. This is an Instore pickup item at the moment. We will make it shippable once we are satisfied with the shipping carton strength.
